Dozens of protesters gathered outside of the 18th of October Uprising Political Prisoner Coordination office, demanding the release of political prisoners from the jails of Santiago and the rest of Chile for participating in the October Rebellion, with many having been imprisoned for more than a year.

Hundreds gathered in Bogota for a memorial protest in honor of Dilan Cruz, a university student killed in the 2019 protests in Colombia. Demonstrators marched down the commercial sector of the city, running into police during the march. The two sides clashed, with protesters cursing out the police as they left, appearing unwilling to fight.

Protesters in Athens gathered in solidarity with the November 17 political prisoner Dimitris Koufontina, who entered a hunger strike on January 8th demanding his transfer to a prison with less security and a greater assurance of his human rights. Police, who stated their presence was to “stop overcrowding” backed the demonstration into a wall and crowded them on their way to the Propylaea, where the protest later dispersed.
Thousands of demonstrators across Iran took to the streets against the Islamic Republic government and the Ayatollah, in a movement sparked by water shortages in the Arab province of Khuzestan. Police deployed live rounds against protesters, killing one, and crowds in several areas bombed police cars, burned tanks, and destroyed security cameras.
