Antifascist Counter-Rallies
On the 26th of September, the Proud Boys organized rallies in Portland, getting a crowd of ~50 heavily armed men, mostly white. Antifascist organizations in the city quickly heard about the planned rallies and responded by organizing their own, both of which had turnout in the thousands.
Thousands of protesters in Athens took to the streets against the government’s management of the pandemic, with police and the military overfunded in Greece as COVID cases continue to rise steadily with hospitals and the medical system overwhelmed, with ICU beds near full capacity.
Anarchists in Bern dropped a banner in solidarity with the Koufontinas hunger strike outside of the Greek consulate in Switzerland, also throwing several firecrackers at the ambassador’s home to demand the immediate satisfaction of the former 17 November member’s request to be returned to the Korydallos prison.
Hundreds of protesters in Pereira took to the streets in opposition to Colombia’s neoliberal policy and the Tributary Reform, which would raise taxes on basic goods and services such as water, electricity, and internet bills. After police tear-gassed the crowd in the night, strong clashes occurred with rocks and tear gas exchanged.
