30+ anti-racists in San Francisco gathered at the city’s ICE office, smashing in windows and breaching the office to wreak havoc inside, rendering it unusable for a long time. Demonstrators answered the call for a round of Abolish ICE events around inauguration day on J20, with no arrests occurring within the group.
Protesters took to the streets for the entire day across Nigeria, but remained after nightfall for a vigil in honor of those killed by SARS before and during the current protests. Demonstrators venerated at least 20 names this night, including many who were killed recently by live bullets during protests. Anonymous also participated, taking down the Central Bank website.
Thousands of students gathered in Thessaloniki and marched against a new law which would restore police to university campuses across Greece for the first time since the fall of the military dictatorship. Clashes ensued after police deployed tear gas on protesters, with Molotov cocktails flying through the air and firebombs used against law enforcement. After finishing the march in spite of chemical weapons being used on protesters, the students returned for an afternoon march against state repression.
Dozens of protesters gathered at Georgiou Square in Patras in solidarity with the 17 November member Dimitris Koufontinas, who entered a hunger strike on the 8th of January to demand his transfer to the Korydallos prison in Athens, which would enable him to see visitors and receive adequate medical care.
