Dozens of protesters gathered at the Cerro Chena mountain in opposition to a proposed sports city at the site near the capital city of Santiago. Torture and disappearances had been known to occur on the mountain under the previous neoliberal dictatorship of Pinochet, and demonstrators demand that all human remains be removed before the sports city begins construction.
Around 15,000 protesters took to the streets of Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, to demand the resignation of the government after the collapse of the country’s healthcare system. Elective surgeries were already suspended by the Ministry of Health, and a shortage of medicine remains throughout the country. After police attacked the crowd, the Ministry of Finance was set on fire and widespread clashes began to occur across the city, prompting the resignation of the Minister of Health.
800 anarchists marched through downtown Hamburg to protest against fascism, capitalism, repression, and to demand immediate and free access to the vaccine for all residents of Germany, be they citizens, refugees, or undocumented migrants. They demand the free market not handle distribution and that rich people should not be the first to receive the vaccine.
