Dozens of protesters clashed with police in the Bonilla neighborhood of Antofagasta, demanding justice for a murdered street juggler in Panguipulli. Tear gas was deployed by Carabineros, Chilean law enforcement, which seeped into the homes of civilians. 3 protesters were arrested by the end of confrontations.
Greek vegan anarchists in Athens gathered on New Year’s Eve to protest against speciesism and brutality on animals, by the form of mass confinement and murder for meat and other products. Demonstrators marched to Kato Patisia and Agios Nikolaos, dropping leaflets and shouting slogans in front of butchers and fishmongers. Before dispersing, a banner was dropped in the Cyprus park of Patision, after which the march ended.
Thousands of protesters in New York City returned to the streets in support of Palestine, demanding an immediate end of US support to the internationally-designated apartheid state of Israel long accused of carrying out terrorist activities against the Arab population.
