Around 100 protesters gathered at the Portland ICE facility on Holocaust Remembrance Day, setting up a memorial for those who have and are facing genocide, and burning American flags. DHS then assaulted demonstrators with munitions after they set a dumpster on fire, with several waves occurring of law enforcement retreating and coming back out, before they were pushed out one last time by the remaining protesters and the demonstration ended for the night.
Hundreds of students in Thessaloniki marched against a new bill proposed by the Greek Education Minister Niki Kerameos, which would remilitarize police campuses with an elite police force. Demonstrators marched through the city, with frontliners locking their arms as a deterrent for any sort of police assault.
Riots took place in the Polish town of Lubin after a police officer murdered a young man under arrest, asphyxiating him by placing a knee on his neck. Hundreds arrived at the local police station, chanting “Murderers!” and hurling rocks and Molotov cocktails at riot police. At the end of the day, more than 50 arrests were made by riot police.
Thousands of students took to the streets of Thessaloniki to protest a law passed by the Ministry of Education which would create a university police force for the first time since the fall of Greece’s military junta. Near the end of the demonstrations, clashes between demonstrators and police occurred, with Molotov cocktails and tear gas being thrown.
