Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Medellín for a 2nd day as part of a general strike in Colombia against neoliberalism and demanding the fall of the Tributary Reform, which would increase taxes on basic goods and services such as utilities including water, electricity, and internet.
Police brutally attacked the demonstration, killing at least one protester and tear-gassing the rest, as well as brutally beating others that were caught alone.
Hundreds of protesters in Santiago descended on Plaza Dignidad and clashed with police after the murder of a street artist in the city of Panguipulli for the crime of not carrying his ID. Despite being hit with water cannons, tear gas, and other chemical weapons, protesters were able to occupy the Plaza several times and hold it off from land assaults by law enforcement.
Thousands of protesters continued in the streets of Guatemala City for another round of demonstrations against the government of President Alejandro Giammattei, demanding the resignation of both him and the Minister of the Interior, who appeared to have given the orders for police brutality against protesters. Protesters clashed with police near the end of the demonstration, prompting the deployment of tear gas and later dispersement.
On the 26th of September, the Proud Boys organized rallies in Portland, getting a crowd of ~150 heavily armed men, mostly white. Antifascist organizations in the city quickly heard about the planned rallies and responded by organizing their own, both of which had turnout in the thousands.
Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of the Santiago neighborhood of Puente Alto, burning barricades and blocking roads on International Women’s Day against government incompetence in stopping femicides as well as to demand access to safe and free abortions in Chile.
