Police Attack Tens of Thousands of Colombians in Cali Striking Against Tributary Reform

Tens of thousands of protesters returned to the streets of Cali for a 2nd consecutive day, as part of a general strike against neoliberalism and the ratification of the Tributary Reforms in Colombia, which would increase taxes on basic goods and services, such as utilities including water and electricity.

Police responded with brutal repression, attacking protesters who gathered at multiple sites across the city. Gunshots were indiscriminately fired by police officers, who also attacked human rights defenders and bystanders.
