Hundreds of protesters in Santiago took to the streets in solidarity with detained demonstrators and to commemorate 1 year and 5 months of the beginning of Chile’s uprising against neoliberalism and inequality on the 18th of October in 2019. Police brutally cracked down on the demonstration, sending dozens of officers, water cannons, and tanks against the crowd.
Protesters unfurled a banner in front of the Portland ICE facility, condemning the organization and its practices as genocidal and harmful towards migrants coming through the border from Mexico. The camps have long been remarked as concentration camps for horrible treatment of detainees and poor sanitation.
100 protesters gathered at the Bergen County Jail in New Jersey in solidarity with the 25+ day hunger strike by ICE detainees over horrific conditions inside including rat infestations and lack of PPE. Police attacked the marchers, arresting 9, with 60 riot cops present at the facility after all but 20 demonstrators had dispersed.
