Paraguayans at Campo 9 Shut Down Roads Against Government Corruption

Dozens of protesters in Doctor Juan Eulogio Estigarribia shut down a local highway to demand the resignation of president Marito Abdo, widely held responsible for corruption resulting in the disappearance of $1.6 billion from Paraguay’s healthcare budget.

The disappearance of the $1.6 billion caused a collapse in infrastructure, with hospitals overwhelmed by the COVID pandemic and being forced to take measures such as medicine rationing and suspending elective surgeries such as appendix removal.
