Dozens of workers at a 2nd Chipotle restaurant in the Bronx, New York City, walked off the job and marched in a picket line because of the facility’s mishandling of a COVID outbreak at their store. Strikers demanded more personal protective equipment and proper cleaning of restaurants exposed to COVID.
Hundreds of protesters gathered in Portland for a New Years’ demonstration, clashing with federal agents and police throughout the night. Much of the night was a back and forth between protesters using fireworks, and law enforcement using munitions & tear gas.
Greek vegan anarchists in Athens gathered on New Year’s Eve to protest against speciesism and brutality on animals, by the form of mass confinement and murder for meat and other products. Demonstrators marched to Kato Patisia and Agios Nikolaos, dropping leaflets and shouting slogans in front of butchers and fishmongers. Before dispersing, a banner was dropped in the Cyprus park of Patision, after which the march ended.
