Trade unions and Marxist-Leninist organizations including CONUSI and SUNTRAC took to the streets across Panamá for the reactivation of employment contracts and the removal of deregulating and anti-labor laws such as Decree 830. Roads were shut down across the country, with over 40,000 workers going on strike in dozens of cities.
Over 100 protesters marched in Portland during a weekly protest demanding justice for Patrick Kimmons, a man killed by police in 2018. Most participants took to the streets in black bloc, making it difficult to distinguish who was who within the crowd, throwing off the ability of police to identify individuals.
Hundreds of healthcare workers gathered at the ministries of Labor and Health, as part of a strike called for by POEDIN (Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Employees), demanding more money to help deal with the pandemic instead of for funding the army and police with more and more unnecessary and repressive gear.
