Thousands of antifascists gathered in Marseille in opposition to the Global Security Law, marching through the neighborhood of Zineb and passing through the Regional Council building before dispersing at the Port of Vieux with clashes occurring between protesters and police and tear gas deployed around the Canebière police station. Demonstrators chanted “Everyone hates the police!” [“Tout, le monde, deteste la police!”] and other anti-cop slogans.
A demonstration took place in Detroit against the city’s police and its brutality towards civilians, advocating for the defunding and eventual abolition of the Detroit police department. No major assaults were made by police officers, and the protest generally managed to avoid any altercations.
Protesters across Chile took to the streets calling for the freedom of political prisoners that have been put in jail by the state, some since the start of the October Rebellion, from Valparaiso to Santiago. Many banner drops also occurred in smaller cities, that would have had a smaller protest population.
Dozens of feminists gathered in front of the National Congress in Valparaiso, demanding the legalization and universalization of safe abortions for all women in Chile. Confrontations with a conservative priest occurred, as well as with the Carabineros escorting im away from the scene.
