About 150 activists gathered outside of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s mansion to demand that Biden not consider him for any cabinet positions, notably Secretary of Transportation. Riot police almost immediately moved in, with demonstrators making noise outside his home and dispersing soon after.
Over 700 protesters in Chania took to the streets in solidarity with the Koufontinas hunger strike, demanding that the Greek government immediately satisfy the communist revolutionary prisoner’s request to be returned to his old cell at the Korydallos prison in Athens.
Protests occurred in Philadelphia in advance of a rally that Trump will be holding to re-elect him as President of the United States, with about 300-500 protesters gathering to demonstrate against the rally occurring. The rally took place to address his plans to end police brutality in front of undecided voters.
Over 200 protesters in Los Angeles turned out for Black Lives, organized by the Los Angeles People’s Council, demanding the defunding of the LAPD by at least 50% if not 100. No major clashes occurred with police, although minor scuffles did occur.
Dozens of protesters in Yangon returned to the streets at nightfall, banging pots and pans and blocking roads in opposition to a military coup carried out on the 1st of February against the elected leader of Myanmar, Su Chi.
