Indigenous Guatemalans in Totonicapán Protest Against Corruption

Hundreds of protesters in the 98% indigenous Totonicapán department in Guatemala from the K’iche ethnicity began a national blockade of highways demanding the end of corruption by ousting the Congress and government of the department and country, who have been heavily criticized for mishandling the pandemic.

Protesters from the University of San Carlos in Guatemala City also blockaded Petapa Avenue in solidarity with the indigenous blockaders.
