Hundreds of Kurds gathered in the city of Said Sadiq/Saydsadq in the Iraqi Kurdish administration, burning down all buildings belonging to the government and political parties following the suppressing of worker strikes earlier in December. Smoke clouds could be seen from miles away due to the burning of the aforementioned structures, including the town hall and municipal office.
Live ammunition was not deployed as the local police were quickly overpowered by nearly the entire city’s youth population.
