Hundreds of Cypriots took to the streets of Nicosia in opposition to corruption plaguing the government of the Greek part of Cyprus, which many say plagues the issue of protecting the environment and reuniting under a federal government with the northern Turkish government.
Over 1000 protesters in Minneapolis marched after the announcement that former police officer Derek Chauvin had been found guilty of all three counts of murder and manslaughter in the case of George Floyd, whose murder sparked massive protests worldwide and rocked the US. Demonstrators also chanted slogans against the National Guard, whose presence militarized Minneapolis in the weeks prior to the trial.
Youth returned to the streets of Trappes, west of Paris, during a 2nd night of confrontations with law enforcement at the city’s local police station, where fireworks and tear gas was exchanged between the two groups.
Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Thessaloniki in opposition to a law passed by the Ministry of Education in February, which would allow police to re-enter university campuses for the first time since the reformation of the Greek government after the fall of the military dictatorship.
50 protesters marched in the Chania neighborhoods of Ai-Giannis, Lentariana, and Amperia, in solidarity with the Rosa Nera squat occupied by Greek police. Demonstrators stenciled graffiti, pasted posters, and chanted slogans to a positive response from the community which was very intertwined with pre-occupation Rosa Nera.
