Hundreds of protesters in Lansing gathered for the Michigan People’s March, marching down the Michigan Highway 99/S Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in support of Black Lives Matter, socialism, and anarchism. Demonstrators called for the fall of the prison-industrial complex, the American empire, and the abolition of ICE.
Protests began spontaneously in Atlanta on the night of the 23rd, with police reacting violently, but ultimately too weak in terms of numbers to stop the protesters.
Chilean medical workers in Santiago marched through the Alameda, many from the Barros Luco Hospital on strike, demanding a better budget for the health sector and raises for those at the frontlines fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hundreds gathered in front of the house of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, in a steadily growing crowd demanding that he not be placed as Secretary of Transportation. Demonstrators made noise the entire day, then listening to organizers’ speeches and dispersing.
Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Santiago in support of the political prisoners of the 2019 uprising in Chile, as well as anarchist and Mapuche insurgents. Demonstrators chased off police in Plaza Dignidad, who then returned and used water cannons and tear gas on the peaceful crowd.
