Hundreds of protesters gathered in the Pudahuel borough of Santiago, demanding the resignation of President Sebastian Piñera and the release of political prisoners in preparation for ‘Super Wednesday’, in which thousands anticipate a march on the presidential palace.
Hundreds of students gathered at the Propylaea in Athens to demand the repeal of a law recently passed by the Ministry of Education which reintroduced police to universities for the first time since 1975, after which dozens were arrested at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki during a student occupation of the rector’s office.
Around 25 protesters took to the streets of Miami to demand justice for Ma’Khia Bryant, a Black 16-year-old shot and killed by police in Columbus. Demonstrators blocked traffic on Biscayne Boulevard before engaging with the city police chief and clearing the area.
Around 150 protesters in New York marched to demand justice for Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old black man murdered by police in the Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Center. Demonstrators blocked the Alexander Hamilton Bridge and were intimidated by police, although no arrests occurred.
Around 100 protesters in Rochester marched after no officers were charged in the murder of Daniel Prude, a black man suffocated by police who put a hood over his entire head, causing him to die a week later. Demonstrators marched to the Rochester Public Safety Building, pushing aside barricades and pushing on the front door before dispersing.
