Around 40 protesters in Xanthi took to the streets in solidarity with the Koufontinas hunger strike, marching to the local office of the ruling right-wing New Democracy party and throwing paint at its entrance following the Prime Minister’s statement that Koufontinas’ request would not be accepted.
Dozens of hotel workers in the western Greek island of Corfu went on strike outside of the labor enlistment office, demanding an emergency payment of 600 Euros in order to survive the pay cuts that have occurred during the pandemic.
Waukegan residents took to the streets after the police murder of Marcellis Stinnette, a 19-year-old black man with a child who was shot to death inside his own car along with his girlfriend, who was gravely injured. Over 100 protesters attended the spontaneous demonstration.
Dozens of Loyalist youth in Newtownabbey, north of Belfast, rioted against the creation of a customs process for goods being transported between Great Britain and North Ireland, which would disrupt the Loyalist drug trade. Cars were burned by the youth and petrol bombs were thrown at police as well, including an instance where one person set himself on fire.
