A vigil in honor of a young person who had recently passed away broke out into a riot in Swansea, Wales, in the United Kingdom, after police arrived to break up the gathering. Several cars were torched, and police cars were pelted with rocks, resulting in no arrests at the scene.
Chileans have returned to the streets after the 1-year anniversary of the October Rebellion of 2019 that led to the reformation of the constitution. Demonstrators have been attacked and killed by police and the military in multiple cities across the country.
Dozens of anarchists and protesters in Santiago took to the streets in support of political prisoners of the 18th of October Uprising and the Mapuche struggle for autonomy over ancestral land, demanding an immediate general pardon and release of all those convicted of participating in the social revolt of Chile.
Tens of thousands of protesters demonstrated across Guatemala against government corruption and a budget plan that took away from the poorest and gave to the richest of the country. Over 40 arrests occurred nationally, with hundreds more injured. Demonstrations took place in Guatemala City, Quetzaltenango, and Huehuetenango.
Police have not killed anyone more since the September 12th update, but ~50 more injuries have occurred as well as several dozen arrests. Protesters are consolidating their areas of control over Bogota, and are still in the streets in Bucaramanga and Medellin. Protests have also been sparked by allegations of sexual violence against arrested women in Bogota.
