Dozens of protesters took to the streets of the Chilean town of Melipilla in condemnation of the police murder of a street artist in Panguipulli for the offense of failing to provide his ID on time. Demonstrators marched through the city and burned barricades on the commune’s entrance to disrupt activity in the area.
Medical workers and doctors in Los Lagos went on strike in solidarity with the October Rebellion political prisoners, and demanding more equipment for health services and combating the spread of COVID-19. They were a part of more than 5 health service directorates that halted operations.
Hundreds of public sector workers in Iraqi Kurdistan went on strike after the government stated it would only give 1 more monthly paycheck with a 21% cut, following giving only 4 monthly salaries in 2020 with a 20% cut each.
Government forces deployed tear gas on the striking workers and protesters, as well as firing live ammunition into the crowd and injuring many journalists.
Over a thousand protesters in Minneapolis marched for Dolal Idd, the 23-year-old son of Somali immigrants murdered by police in a parking lot for being in possession of a gun. Organizers called for prosecution against the police responsible, and an investigation of the raid into Dolal Idd’s home by police who put all the adults present in handcuffs.
Dozens of protesters in Berlin gathered to demand the release of Abdullah Öcalan, leader of the PKK imprisoned in isolation after being caught by Turkish government forces during a counterinsurgency operation.
