Significant clashes occurred with police, although the tactics used minimized arrests.
Striking workers from the Notimex news agency in Mexico City protested at its headquarters on day 304, condemning an exposure of workers to COVID-19 and the inability of the corporation to manage its fallout properly. The (Sindicato de Trabajadores de Notimex) Notimex Workers’ Union cited irresponsibility on the part of the company for the reason that the strike began, and said it would not return until conditions were adequate.
Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Encarnación, the 3rd-largest city in all of Paraguay, demanding the government’s resignation after the collapse of the healthcare system, with medicine at a critically low level and elective surgeries stopped altogether. Demonstrators gathered at the Plaza de Armas in the Colorado District, burning barricades and singing chants against the standing regime.
Members of the Squatted Community of Prosfygika protested in solidarity with Abdullah Öcalan, imprisoned leader of the insurgent Kurdistan Workers’ Party in Turkey. Demonstrators demanded the end of isolated imprisonment for the rebel leader, who has not been allowed to have visitors during an extended period of his sentence.
Around 150 Portland protesters took to the streets in support of a national uprising and general strike in Colombia against corruption, wealth inequality, and police violence. Demonstrators called for the end of US cooperation with the existing regime and expressed their support with the demonstrations from abroad.
