Police brutally assaulted a demonstration in Nicosia against corruption, in which protesters had begun a march with the aim of bringing light to the human rights abuses committed by the government of Cyprus in the name of containing the coronavirus, which has escalated normally tame protests in the divided island nation.

Demonstrators gathered in central Madrid to condemn rampant racism, of which the country has been reminded on the recent anniversary of the murder of a Dominican immigrant. About 50 protesters were in attendance, and received support for many passing through the central plaza of the city.
Rioters in Leipzig, Germany, burned several military vehicles for New Year’s, during part of the traditional car-torching every January 1st that results in over 1,000 burnt vehicles every year.
Demonstrators took to the streets in Times Square commemorating the latest trans woman who was murdered by 16 gunshots from the guns of police officers. Protest organizers demanded further defunding for the police than just the $1 billion that the mayor had promised to appease the protests with.
