Protesters and antifascists commemorated Annibal Villaroel at his funeral, a young man murdered by police forces in Chile on the 18th of October. Hundreds of anarchists and other socialists attended his funeral in Santiago, chanting insults against the police.
Hundreds of protesters in Santiago took to the streets in solidarity with detained demonstrators and to commemorate 1 month and 5 years of the beginning of Chile’s uprising against neoliberalism and inequality on the 18th of October in 2019. Police brutally cracked down on the demonstration, sending dozens of officers, water cannons, and tanks against the crowd.
Hundreds of Panamanian workers continued to strike across the country to demand a $500 stimulus for all, full wages paid during quarantine, employment opportunities for the 7500 workers who have lost their jobs during the pandemic. Many also called for a moratorium on debt and rent, as well as the creation of interest-free loans.
Thousands of protesters in Barcelona took to the streets for a 2nd day to demand the release of Pablo Hasel, a left-wing Catalan rapper facing charges for insulting the Spanish monarchy. Demonstrators clashed with police, throwing rocks and burning barricades after the arrival of law enforcement to supposedly calm the crowd.
