70 protesters gathered at the Spire on O’Connell Street in Dublin for a vigil for George Nkencho, a mentally ill Nigerian immigrant recently murdered by the police, calling for a criminal investigation into the national police officer who shot him 5 times.
Around 300 protesters in Frankfurt marched after a 19-year-old Iraqi refugee died in a hospital after being arrested for possession of marijuana. While in custody, Qosay Sadam Khalaf “collapsed” in his cell and was taken to a hospital, where he ended up dying. Police attacked the demonstration, kicking and punching protesters without provocation.
Hundreds of protesters returned to the streets of Girona to demand freedom and amnesty for Pablo Hasel, a left-wing Catalan rapper facing charges for criticizing the monarchy of Spain, the Bourbon royal family. Demonstrators burned barricades and clashed with police, who attempted unsuccessfully to quell the gathering.
