Dozens of Austrian activists blocked several streets in downtown Innsbruck to draw attention to the inhumane conditions in the deportation camp Bürglkopf. Demonstrators also criticized the deportations of refugees to Afghanistan, Russia and Nigeria, which were recently carried out.
A protest took place in New York, around City Hall in the intersection of Centre and Chambers. Organizers demanded justice for Jonathan Price, another black man killed by police in Wolfe City, Texas. After the first wave of protests, Price’s killer was arrested.
Dozens of students and anarchists in Patras gathered at Georgiou Square to protest against a new law proposed by the Ministry of Education, which would return police to campuses for the first time since the fall of the military dictatorship. Police kettled the protesters, and deployed tear gas, forcing them to disperse.
Around 300 protesters gathered in Argostoli on the island of Cephalonia, marching in solidarity with the Koufontinas hunger strike and demanding that the Greek government immediately accept the revolutionary prisoner’s request to be returned to his old cell at the Korydallos prison in Athens.
Around 25 protesters took to the streets of Miami to demand justice for Ma’Khia Bryant, a Black 16-year-old shot and killed by police in Columbus. Demonstrators blocked traffic on Biscayne Boulevard before engaging with the city police chief and clearing the area.
