Barricades were also placed in Puente Alto to shut down roads. Anarchists and other direct action protesters gathered at Cal Anderson Park in Seattle to protect the homeless community there from being hit by a planned sweep, placing barricades and setting up food stands. An empty house was also occupied, and the city of Seattle ended up calling the sweep off.
Dozens of protesters gathered at the Cerro Chena mountain in opposition to a proposed sports city at the site near the capital city of Santiago. Torture and disappearances had been known to occur on the mountain under the previous neoliberal dictatorship of Pinochet, and demonstrators demand that all human remains be removed before the sports city begins construction.
