Thousands of bikers and protesters across the country gathered to blockade highways, railroads, and other means of transportation against the Piñera presidency and a lack of respect for its citizens, and a lack of accountability for police brutality. Barricades went up in Valparaiso, Santiago, Talcahuano, and many other cities.
Thousands of Chilean health workers and their allies took to the streets in Santiago, demanding the immediate resignation of President Piñera and his government as well as a bonus for hospitals and workers to help contain the coronavirus pandemic. Other unions also took part in the march, which was backed up later in the day by national blockades and bikers' protests.
Around 30 protesters gathered in Orlando in solidarity with Angelo Crooms and Sincere Pierce, two 16 and 18-year-olds shot to death by police last Friday. The family had organized a large rally on the 18th with a turnout of over 200, and expects to sustain these protests in order to provide pressure against the Brevard County Sheriffs' Office.
