15,000 Paraguayans in Asunción Riot Against Collapse of Healthcare System

Around 15,000 protesters took to the streets of Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, to demand the resignation of the government after the collapse of the country’s healthcare system. Elective surgeries were already suspended by the Ministry of Health, and a shortage of medicine remains throughout the country. After police attacked the crowd, the Ministry of Finance was set on fire and widespread clashes began to occur across the city, prompting the resignation of the Minister of Health.
